The Best Basketball Players Of All Time

Dirk Nowitzki

The German athlete was one of the most successful basketball players in the US professional league NBA. The multi-award-winning and long-time regular player of the Dallas Mavericks (from 1998) was also a key player in his Texan team. With over 31,000 points scored in over 1,500 games, 11,000 rebounds and 3,000 assists, he is the sixth-best basket hunter in NBA history and the best scorer in NBA history who was not born in the USA. At the basketball world championship in Indianapolis in September 2002, Dirk Nowitzki achieved a sensational third place with the German national team. With an annual salary of around 14 million US dollars, he was one of the most expensive athletes in Germany alongside Michael Schumacher. In the 2006/07 season, Nowitzki was the first European to receive the NBA Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) as the most valuable player of the season. In 2012 he was the first non-American to receive the “Naismith Legacy Award” …

Michael Jordan

The American athlete was one of the most successful basketball players in the world. He played for the Chicago Bulls for fourteen years. He led his team from 1991 to 1993 and from 1996 to 1998 to six US championship titles. Michael Jordan set a world record with more than 2000 points (average 31.5 points per match) in eleven seasons. He also won Olympic gold twice with the US national team (1984 and 1992). A season with the “Chicago White Socks” (1993/1994) was unsuccessful. His career was crowned by being voted “Ball Sportsman of the Century” .

Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain, one of the greatest basketball stars in the North American professional league NBA, died in 1999 of heart failure at the age of 63. During his playing days, the American was twice NBA champion and had finished the final series four more times, which for some insiders still makes him a loser instead of a superstar. However, he deserves the great merit of having given his sport greater prestige worldwide, whereby he caused a sensation above all with many records. Many of them have long since become legendary and are still valid a quarter of a century after the end of his career: the one on March 2, 1962 from the match of his Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks, when Wilt Chamberlain scored an unbelievable 100 points, seems unreachable for all time.

LeBron James

LeBron James is an American basketball player who is also called “King James”. With more than 34,000 points, he is in third place in the list with the most points scored in NBA history and is considered one of the most outstanding athletes. In Miami, James was part of the “Big Three” along with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and became the most important player on the team. In 2012 he won his first championship. In 2014, the superstar caused a sensation when he returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
