There are loads of different reasons as to why the game of soccer is so popular, but today we’re going to take a closer look at which countries this amazing sport is so mainstream.
U.S.A
This may seem very surprising to most of you reading this article, but yes it’s true, soccer is pretty popular in the US of A. Despite the fact that the country has a love for so many other sports, their fan base is not only in the millions but is very clear that is growing swiftly.
South Africa
Soccer is the most popular sport in South Africa, with roughly 4,5 million people playing soccer and millions of others supporting both their local and national teams. The passion of the country’s supporters is not only wild but so awesome, and they often considered to be the most colorful and eccentric fans on the planet. Most of this was witnessed during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
Uruguay
South American countries are no strangers to the world of soccer, and one of the places where soccer is basically in their blood is none other than Uruguay. As of 2020, their national team was ranked 5th in the world, however, over the last few decades Uruguay has also managed to produce some of the world’s best soccer players. Anotjer fun fact, soccer is so popular in this country that the national team’s stadium is one of the biggest in the world.

It’s no secret that both the Spanish are quite dangerous and furious both on the field and in the stadium. As the Spanish national soccer team is one of the most successful sides in Europe, it’s no wonder that their fan base is so strong and loyal. The Spanish team has been in every World Cup since 1978, which is pretty impressive, right?
England
There is no question about it, England definitely has the most popular soccer league in the entire world. The fast and fanatic game of soccer loved by nearly every person in the country, which is so often evident when soccer stadiums are packed to capacity and filled with an indescribable electric atmosphere. Not only England’s players competitive but so are their die-hard supporters.
Brazil
No article about soccer is ever complete without mentioning Brazil at least one. Their national soccer team is currently ranked 3 in the world by FIFA, but The Golden Squad is the most successful national team in the major international tournament, the FIFA World Cup. Not only have they won the competition 5 times but they have also qualified for every edition of the soccer world cup. And how can we not mention the fact that this country is also well known for producing some of the best and most talented soccer legends on the planet. Furthermore, their fans and supporters are just as passionate about the game, and often times this sport is considered their second religion.
